One of the most exciting groups of the World Cup is without a doubt Group B. Besides Spain and Portugal who are the big favorites, Morocco and Iran will try to shine. Morocco are one of my personal favorites in this tournament, and they have a really fresh team. Iran are not as good, but they are a very defensive unit. The winner of this match just might have a fighting chance to break into the top two spots.  World Cup Morocco vs Iran Spread and Prediction.

Date/Time: 6-15-2018, 11:00 EDT

Spread: Morocco -0.25

Total: 1.75 Goals

Morocco will come into this tournament with a very dangerous squad. Most of their players are playing in France, but also in other major European competitions. Their midfield is really good, probably the best among teams of the same caliber. Their biggest star is Juventus’ defender Mehdi Benatia, while Real Madrid’s Ahraf Hakimi is also a rising star. Moreover, they have a lot of options in their midfield, with players like Belhanda, Ziyech, Amrabat, El Ahmady and Harit. They also have a great coach in Herve Renard, who has had a lot of experience with both Zambia and Ivory Coast in the past.

On the other hand, Iran might be lacking star players in their roster, but they will heavily rely on their coach. They did great to hire Carlos Queiroz back in 2011, a coach that has had a ton of experience with Manchester United and Real Madrid in the past. He is the coach with the longest tenure in Iran’s national team, and this will be his 4th World Cup. As for the qualifiers, Iran easily topped their group without losing a single match (6-0-4). Moreover, they conceded just a couple of goals in that span, which is a great example of their defensive strength.

Both teams will come into this tournament looking to play sold defense, especially against Spain and Portugal. Morocco are better than Iran, at least on paper and should be able to grab at least a draw here. Moreover, if anyone is going to disrupt the top two qualifying spots, it is Morocco.

Iran might have a great coach, but a coach can do so much. Morocco have a pretty decent coach, and also great players. I really believe that Morocco can make it past this group, but in order to do so, they will have to win here.

World Cup Morocco vs Iran Prediction: Morocco -0.25 (-105)
