Two of the top three squads of the Western Conference are clashing in this high caliber matchup, when the defending champions and third Minnesota Lynx (17-13), who want to extend their current mini winning streak, are hosting the leaders both of the West and of the WNBA Seattle Storm (23-8), who saw a winning streak end and are looking to bounce back.

Date/Time: 08-12-2018 19:00 EDT

Spread: Minnesota Lynx -1.5

Total: +163.5

Minnesota Lynx have a 17-13 record (12-18 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in third place of the West. They have back-to-back wins and in their last game they won on the road against the Las Vegas Aces with an 89-73 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Maya Moore with 18.4 ppg, adding 5.1 boards per game. She is followed by Sylvia Fowles with 16.8 ppg and a team high 11.9 boards per game, while Seimone Augustus adds 10.6 ppg.

Seattle Storm have a 23-8 record (19-11-1 against the spread) so far this season currently sit in the first place of the West and the whole WNBA. In their last game they saw a five-game winning streak getting snapped by losing on the road against the Washington Mystics with a 77-100 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Breanna Stewart with 22.2 ppg, adding a team high 8.1 boards per game. She is followed by Jewell Loyd with 16.2 ppg, 4.6 boards and 3.6 dimes per game, while Natasha Howard adds 13.3 ppg and 6.6 boards per game.

In their two previous meetings earlier this season each team has won at home (Minnesota by 12 points and Seattle by 10). Minnesota are 8-6 at home this season, while Seattle are 12-4 on the road. Seattle have the best offense in the league with 87.6 ppg to Minnesota’s third-worse of 78.6, while Minnesota have the second-best defense, allowing 77 ppg to Seattle’s 80.4. Seattle have better percentages both in field goals, shooting with 46.9% to Minnesota’s 44.6% and in 3-pointers, shooting with 36.8% to Minnesota’s 34.5%. They are also better both in assists made (21.3 to 19.3) and in turnovers committed (13.1 to 14.3), while Minnesota are better in rebounding (36.1 to 34.8). The home court has been a major factor in this series and Vegas odds give Minnesota a -1.5 spread and expect them to beat the odds for the home victory.
