In this battle between two squads sitting on the bottom three places of their respective conference, the third-worse in the West Phoenix Mercury (16-14), who are on a free fall having won only once in their last seven games, are hosting the team with the worse record in the WNBA, the Indiana Fever (5-24), who want to return to the winning ways.

Date/Time: 08-10-2018 22:00 EDT

Spread: Phoenix Mercury -12.5

Total: +167

Phoenix Mercury have a 16-14 record (17-13 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the third to last place of the West. They have lost six of their last seven matches and in their last game they lost at home against the Washington Mystics with a 98-103 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Diana Taurasi with 20.9 ppg, adding a team high 4.8 dimes per game. She is followed by Brittney Griner with 20.8 ppg and a team high 7.3 boards per game, while DeWanna Bonner adds 16.7 ppg, 6.7 boards and 3.2 dimes per game.

Indiana Fever have a 5-24 record (11-18 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the last place of the East and of the whole WNBA. In their last game they saw a two-game winning streak getting snapped by losing at home against the Seattle Storm with a 79-94 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Candice Dupree with 14.2 ppg, adding 6.5 boards per game. She is followed by Kelsey Mitchell with 12.8 ppg, while Cappie Pondexter adds 10.8 ppg and 2.8 dimes per game.

Phoenix has won both previous meetings against Indiana this season, both on the road and by an average of 18.5 points. Phoenix are 5-8 at home this season, while Indiana are 3-11 on the road. Mercury are better both offensively, scoring 84.5 ppg to Fever’s league-low of 75.3 and defensively, allowing 83.3 ppg to Fever’s 84.3. They also have better percentages both in field goals (45.1% to 40.9%) and in 3-pointers (35.1% to 32.4%). Mercury are also better in assists made (20.1 to 15.7), while Fever are better in rebounding (32.5 to 32.1) and in turnovers committed (12.7 to 13.7). Phoenix are the absolute favorite in this game and Vegas odds give them a -12.5 and expect them to beat the odds for an easy bounce-back victory tonight.
