Liverpool are coming off a semi-successful season that showed a lot of promise, but did not bring any pieces of silverware. However, the board greatly reinforced an already spectacular squad, and Liverpool will be scary. They will now start the new season on Sunday, when they will play host to West Ham. West Ham were really bad last season despite the changes, so they did more this season.

Liverpool were doing a pretty good job in the Premier League until February last season. But they solely focused on their Champions League run and eventually finished 4th in the Premier League with 75 points (21-5-12). But they went on to reach the final of the Champions League, where they were unable to overcome Real Madrid. Liverpool did not make good runs in either the FA Cup or the Carabao Cup. Coach Klopp got some great new players to reinforce his squad, especially in the midfield. They brought in Keita from RB Leipzig and Fabinho from Monaco, and also goalkeeper Alisson from Roma. These three players will lock down the midfield and defense, which was Liverpool’s Achilles heel last season.
On the other hand, West Ham were not very good last season overall, finishing at the 13th spot of the Premier League. They were very close to the relegation zone at some point, but they easily managed to remain in the Premier League. But the money they spent last season did not justify their overall image. They did reach the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, but were eliminated by Arsenal. West Ham brought in coach Pellegrini in an attempt to be better this season. They also spent a lot of money to bring in Felipe Anderson, Diop, Jarmolenko and Wilshere among others. They should make a much better run this season.
Liverpool destroyed West Ham in both matches last season, by 4-1 on the road before a 1-4 at home. They have been great against West Ham lately having not lost any of the last six matches in all competitions (3-0-3). Moreover, they have been spectacular as hosts over the years (12-1-6).
Both teams made some excellent additions over the summer, and they both played a ton of friendlies. Results show that they are both great offensively, but their defenses were leaking. There is a good chance this can turn into a goal-fest, so I will take the Over 3.25 Goals here.
Premier League Liverpool vs West Ham Prediction: Over 3.25 Goals (-107)
