The Utah Jazz have been injury riddled since the 2017-18 National Basketball Association season opened in mid-October. They have played a stretch of games without Rudy Gobert resulting in a 14-16 start to the campaign. The organization will have to move forward without Gobert for another month to a sprained PCL in his left knee. Odds to Win 2018 NBA Championship (Dec 18).

This is the second injury for the Jazz big Gobert. The Utah center has missed 11 of the team’s 30 games. After a brief one-game return to active duty a statement today from the team’s front office reported the Gobert would miss up to another month of action. Consequently the Utah Jazz team championship futures have tumbled from an opening  100-to-1 to a current 300-to-1.

The red-hot Houston Rockets host the Jazz tonight at the Toyota Center. The Rockets have won 13 consecutive games. And their offseason acquisition of veteran front-man Chris Paul has been a coup. Paul remains undefeated with the Rockets after 115-111 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.

According to the league’s official website,, Paul is the first player in NBA history to start and win his first 14 games with a new team.

In other significant NBA futures news the Cleveland Cavaliers expect to have guard Isaiah Thomas back the first week of January. Upon his clearance by team doctors  his appearance will be his Cavs 2017-2018 regular season debut.

Finally the Golden State Warriors and Rockets are the futures frontrunners from the West. The Cavaliers and Boston Celtics are the “most likely” to in the East.
