Major League Baseball is nearly a third of a way through the 2018 regular season. College football is 85 days away and the National Football League is just over 90 flips of the calendar from kicking off. But it is never too early to talk March Madness and the Odds to Win 2019 College Basketball Championship: 2019 Bracketology.
Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has published the way-too-early preseason bracket for the 2019 college basketball championship. His piece, “Bracketology: Kansas and Duke are at the top of the way-too-early preseason bracket” is intriguing to say the least. Especially since the Stanley Cup, NBA Finals, MLB and the soon-to-be kickoffs from the gridiron are the prevalent sports topics.
Palm writes “It is too early to start talking about a bracket for the 2019 NCAA Tournament? Yes, it is, but we don’t let little things like a calendar stop us. At least we now know who has decided to stay in the NBA Draft and who is returning to school.”
“The first projected bracket of the season is up and it has a lot of familiar names in reasonably familiar places. Kansas is the overall No. 1 seed followed by Duke, Tennessee and Gonzaga”, according to Palm.
“We are certainly used to seeing the Jayhawks and Blue Devils on the top line of a bracket. Kansas has been a No. 1 seed 14 times in the 64+ team tournament era, including in each of the last three tournaments. Duke has started from the top of the bracket 13 times, including a stretch of five consecutive years from 1998-2002.”
The latest update from the Las Vegas Superbook has the Blue Devils checking in at 9-to-2 odds. The Jayhawks have moved from 8-to-1 to 7-to-1.
