Two teams sitting in the 8th and final playoff spot of their respective conference are clashing today, when the Philadelphia 76ers (26-25), who want to turn their latest victory into a streak, are hosting the New Orleans Pelicans (28-25), who are struggling after the injury of DeMarcus Cousins. New Orleans Pelicans vs Philadelphia 76ers Spread and Prediction.

Date/Time:  02-09-2018, 19:00 EDT

Spread: Philadelphia 76ers -5.5

Total: +221.5

Sixers have a 26-25 record (28-22-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 8th place of the East. They have won two of their last three matches and in their last game they won at home against the Wizards with a 115-102 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Joel Embiid with 23.7 ppg, adding a team high 11 rebounds per game. He is followed by JJ Redick with 17 ppg, while Ben Simmons adds 16.6 ppg, 7.8 rebounds and a team high 7.2 assists per game.

Pelicans have a 28-25 record (26-26-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 8th place of the West. They have lost four of their last five matches and in their last game they lost at home against the Jazz with a 109-133 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Anthony Davis with 26.8 ppg, adding 10.6 rebounds per game. He is followed by DeMarcus Cousins with 25.2 ppg, 5.2 assists and a team high 12.9 rebounds per game but he will miss the rest of the season.

In their previous meeting earlier this season, Pelicans won at home with a 131-124 score. Sixers are 14-9 at home so far this season, while Pelicans are 14-13 on the road. Pelicans are better offensively, scoring 110.7 ppg to Sixers’ 107.6, while Sixers are better defensively, allowing 106.5 ppg to Pelicans’ 111.1. Pelicans have better percentages both in field goals, shooting with 48.51% to Sixers’ 46.59% and in 3-pointers, shooting with 36.5% to Sixers’ 36.02%. Sixers lead the league in rebounding, grabbing 46.7 to Pelicans’ 42.9, while Pelicans are second-best in assists made, with 26.4 to Sixers’ third-best of 25.4. Pelicans are struggling after Cousins’ injury and they don’t pose a threat to the Sixers in Philadelphia. Vegas odds give Sixers a -5.5 spread and expect them to beat those odds for the home victory.
