Two teams from opposing conferences sitting outside the playoff spots are clashing today, when the Brooklyn Nets (19-37), looking to end a lengthy losing streak, are hosting the New Orleans Pelicans (28-26), who are struggling after losing Cousins and have fallen outside the top-8 of the West. New Orleans Pelicans vs Brooklyn Nets Spread and Prediction.

Date/Time:  02-10-2018, 18:00 EDT

Spread: Brooklyn Nets +1.5

Total: +219.5

Nets have a 19-37 record (33-23 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the third to last place of the East. They have lost eight of their last nine matches and in their last they lost on the road against the Pistons with a 106-115 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by D’Angelo Russell with 15.3 ppg, adding 3.6 rpg and 4.4 assists per game. He is followed by Rondae Hollis-Jefferson with 14.3 ppg and 6.5 rebounds but he is out with an injury. Spencer Dinwiddie adds 13.5 ppg and a team high 6.7 assists per game.

Pelicans have a 28-26 record (26-27-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 9th place of the West. They have lost five of their last six matches and in their last game they lost on the road against the Sixers with an 82-100 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Anthony Davis with 26.8 ppg, adding 10.6 rebounds per game. He is followed by DeMarcus Cousins with 25.2 ppg, 5.2 assists and a team high 12.9 rebounds per game but he will miss the rest of the season.

In their previous meeting earlier this season, Pelicans won at home with a 128-113 score. Nets are 10-17 at home so far this season, while Pelicans are 14-14 on the road. Pelicans are better offensively, scoring 110.2 ppg to Nets’ 105.1, while Nets are better defensively, allowing 109.1 ppg to Pelicans’ 110.9. Pelicans have better percentages both in field goals, shooting with 48.23% to Nets’ 43.71% and in 3-pointers, shooting with 36.29% to Nets’ 34.62%. They are also better in assists made, with a second-best of 26.2 to Nets’ 22.4, while Nets are only better in rebounding (45.1 to 43). With both teams struggling expect the home court advantage to be a major factor. Vegas odds give the Pelicans a -1.5 spread but don’t expect them to beat the odds and pick Nets for the home victory.
