Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State (7 pm ET, ESPNU)
The Sooners are the 9 seed for this Big 12 tournament, after going 8-10 in conference play. Oklahoma started hot this season at 12-1, and 4-1 in Big 12 play, but later lost six in a row. The Sooners did manage to win two of their last three games, though, including an 81-60 romp over Iowa State last Friday.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, are the 8 seed, after also going 8-10 in Big 12 play. Oklahoma State started 1-3 in conference, and later sat at 5-9, but won three of its last four, including an 82-64 upset of Kansas last Saturday.
These teams split two meetings during the regular season. Back in January, when the Sooners were running hot, they rolled OSU 109-89 in Norman. But three weeks later the Cowboys nipped OU in Stillwater 83-81 in overtime.
Oklahoma shot 55 percent from the floor in that first meeting and covered at -10, in a game that played way over a total of 165. In the second meeting, though, the Sooners only shot 34 percent and lost as 2-point favorites, in a game that played under a total of 167 even with five extra minutes.
Oklahoma trended in the wrong direction through the latter part of this season, while Oklahoma State trended better. We like the Cowboys here.
Free Big 12 Tournament Pick: Oklahoma State
The Longhorns are the 7 seed, after also going 8-10 in the Big 12 this season. Texas reached 6-5 in conference, lost three games in a row, then finished with three wins in its last five games, including an 87-79 overtime victory over West Virginia last Saturday.
The Cyclones, meanwhile, are the 10 seed, after going just 4-14 in conference play. ISU started 0-4 in the Big 12, although two of those losses came in overtime. Down the stretch, though, the Cyclones became non-competitive, losing their last six games straight. And eight of their last 11 losses came by at least 12 points, several by much more.
Texas swept two games from Iowa State during the regular season by scores of 74-70 in overtime and 73-57.
Also, that first meeting sat at just 122 points through regulation, against a total of 138, then went over in overtime. And the second meeting played under a total of 139.
As of this writing there was no line on this game, and both teams could be without key people. The Longhorns should win this one, but they might be favored by too much. Instead, we see that both meetings earlier this year should have played under, so we like under for this one, too.
