In this high-caliber Western duel, the best team of the conference and defending champions Golden State Warriors (32-8), looking to extend another winning streak, are hosting the 6th Denver Nuggets (21-18), who want to bounce back after being defeated in their latest matchup.

Date/Time:  01-08-2018, 20:00 EDT

Spread: Golden State Warriors -10.5

Total: +220

Warriors have a 32-8 record (19-21 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the first place of the West. They have four consecutive wins and in their last game they won on the road against the Clippers with a 121-105 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Stephen Curry with 27.8 ppg, adding 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. He is followed by Kevin Durant with 25.9 ppg and 7.1 rebounds per game but he is out with an injury.

Nuggets have a 21-18 record (19-19-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the 6th place of the West. In their last game they saw a two-game winning streak getting snapped by losing on the road against the Kings with a 98-106 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Gary Harris with 16.5 ppg, followed by Jamal Murray with 16 ppg, while Nikola Jokic adds 15.7 ppg and team highs both in rebounding, with 10.1 per game and in assists made, with 4.8 per game.

In their two previous meetings earlier this season, each team managed to win on the road (Nuggets by 15 points and Warriors by 19). Warriors are 15-5 at home so far this season, while Nuggets are 7-14 on the road. Warriors have the best offense in the league, scoring 115.8 ppg to Nuggets’ 107.4, while Nuggets are better defensively, allowing 105.6 ppg to Warriors’ 106. Warriors lead the league both in field goal percentage, shooting with 50.7% to Nuggets’ 46.5%, and in 3-point percentage, shooting with 38.9% to Nuggets’ 36.6%. They also lead the league in assists made, with 30.8 to Nuggets’ 23.5, while Nuggets are slightly better in turnovers committed (15.7 to 16) and in rebounds grabbed (45.4 to 45.2). Warriors are the absolute favorite even without Durant and Vegas odds give them a -10.5 spread which they are expected to beat against a weak on the road Nuggets squad.
