The Pittsburgh Steelers may be leading the AFC North Division, but at 3-2 they have looked awfully shaky at times. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has put up huge numbers this season, throwing for 1269 yards and six touchdowns. However, he is thrown seven interceptions now, including five last week versus Jacksonville. The performance was so bad that the quarterback was even talking about retiring at the end of the season, although he has wavered on those thoughts since then.
Pittsburgh would be in better shape if you would not for the fact that Le’Veon Bell is having a lot of difficulties getting going this season. Bell is considered to be one of the best running backs in the league, but is gained just 371 yards and has a 3.6 yards per carry average five weeks into the season. Those are terrible numbers for a guy who’s in All-Pro.
Antonio Brown continues to be one of the best wide receivers in the league. Brown has 40 receptions for 545 yards, but only one touchdown to this point. That is a bit of a surprise.
The defense is not getting after the quarterback as Pittsburgh fans are accustomed to, as Cameron Heyward and Anthony Chickillo each have three sacks, and the rest of the team has three combined. Despite this, the Steelers still are excellent in the secondary, as the team has five interceptions, led by Ryan Shazier who has two.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
The Kansas City Chiefs are the lone undefeated team in the NFL the season, winning their fifth straight last week over the Houston Texans. Kansas City is getting an exceptional play out of quarterback Alex Smith, who has made himself the leading MVP candidate so far this season. Smith is thrown for 1391 yards and 11 touchdowns, but that is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how impressive he has been. The Chiefs quarterback has completed 76.6 percent of his passes without an interception this season. Those are truly remarkable statistics.
The ground game is being led by rookie Kareem Hunt was rushed for 609 yards and four touchdowns. Hunt has an impressive 6.3 yards per carry average, making this quite possibly the most difficult offense in the league for opponents to try to defend.
There is very little negative but you can say about the Kansas City team as a whole, and their defense is not giving any reasons to find the cause. The Chiefs group has recorded 14 sacks, six fumble recoveries, and four interceptions through the first five weeks of the season. Justin Houston leads the team in sacks with 5.5 and Chris Jones has 3.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries. Terrance Mitchell leads the team with two interceptions.
Steelers vs. Chiefs Betting Lines
The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a terrible loss and most would expect them to come out with a vengeance and dominated this game. However, they are facing the best team in the NFL right now, and in Kansas City. The Chiefs are just finding ways to win, and there is no reason to believe that that streak will come to an end in this contest. There is no reason to believe that the Chiefs winning streak is about to come to an end. Pittsburgh is tough, but Kansas City is just better. Take the Chiefs to cover the spread and expect this game to total somewhere in the 50s.
My Pick: Kansas City -4.5 (-110)
Total: Over 46.0 (-110)
