The league’s announcement on February 8 stated that the “highlight of WNBA Tip-Off 2018 presented by Verizon is #WNBAAllDay on Sunday, May 20, when all 12 teams will be in action. In the opener of the new season, 2017 WNBA All-Stars Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner lead the Phoenix Mercury in a home game against the Dallas Wings on May 18 at 10 p.m. ET. The next day, All-Stars Allie Quigley and Stefanie Dolson and the Chicago Sky visit the Indiana Fever at 1 p.m. ET.”
The article went on to report that “#WNBAAllDay’s six-game schedule on May 20 is highlighted by a Finals rematch between the 2017 WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx and the 2016 champion Los Angeles Sparks at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The matchup in Minnesota marks the start of ESPN2’s season-long WNBA coverage. The Lynx and Sparks have met in the last two Finals, with both series concluding in dramatic Game 5s.”
In addition throughout the 2018 season, ESPN Networks will air up to 33 games, including 13 regular-season contests, Verizon WNBA All-Star and every game of the postseason. All ESPN telecasts will also stream live on the ESPN app stated WNBA.com.
The 2018 WNBA regular season will run from Friday, May 18 through Sunday, August 19.
