Despite losing their Week #3 contest to the Atlanta Falcons (3-0) and doing so in controversial fashion there is a lot to like about the 2017 Detroit Lions (2-1). With a 35-23 season opening win over the Arizona Cardinals, a 24-10 Week #2 victory over the New York Giants followed by a Sunday Matthew Stafford to Golden Tate touchdown pass that was ruled to be just short of the goal line in the final seconds the Lions have received strong support at the NFL futures window.

The performance by Stafford through three games has been impressive. The Lions’ field general has completed 65 percent of his passes and registered a 100.3 quarterback rating this season. He has done this with only 122 yards through the air in the Week #2 win at MetLife against the Giants.

Running back Ameer Abdullah ran for a career-high 86 yards versus the G-Men and while he has yet to score a touchdown this season he and the Lions offensive line have executed a number of key runs for first downs. The scat-back has six receptions on the year for an average of over eight-yards per catch.

Tate continues to be a monster with yards after catch and leads all receivers with 21 receptions behind the accuracy of Stafford. Tate has recorded those 21 receptions on just 27 targets.

More run blocking consistency by the offensive line would not only allow Abdullah more space to gain ground it would also offer Stafford and the receivers more man-to-man coverage to take advantage of in the passing game.

Head coach Jim Caldwell had his team ready for the big stage of Monday Night Football in New York and all things being equal was a single yard short this past Sunday of being 3-0 entering their Week #4 event against division rival Minnesota.

Lions faithful are excited about the versatility of the offense and the relentless pass rush of the defense, hence, the team is receiving support in the WestGate NFL Futures. In the SuperBook’s latest update Detroit is 30-to-1 to win Super Bowl LII and 15-to-1 to claim the NFC Championship.
